This morning, July 3, 2019, International University (VNU-HCM) welcomed Professor Yuan T. Lee – Former Director of Academia Sinica of Taiwan, Professor Paul T.P. Ho – General Director of East Asian Observatory, Professor Jer-Lai Kuo, in charge of the postgraduate program of Institute of Atomic and Molecular Sciences, Academia Sinica of Taiwan. In the meeting, the professors shared experience in building a research university.<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/p>\n Professors visited and discussed with International University<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n Dr. Tran Tien Khoa – Rector of International University – welcomed the professors<\/p>\n To open the meeting, Dr. Bui Thi Hong Hanh – Head of Office of External and Public Relations of International University introduced the International University and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Hung – Head of Office of Research and Development of International University – presented the activities of research, technology transfer of International University to enterprises and localities in the recent years.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/em><\/p>\n Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Hung – Head of Office of Research and Development – introduced the research activities of International University<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n Professor Yuan T. Lee, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1986, shared his opinions on the development of International University. Professor emphasized the foundation for a research university included the enrollment of outstanding students from specialized high schools, which helped raising the quality of students, and inspiring students to research. One important thing that the professor noted was that the International University should establish a modern research system with excellent personnel attracted by various methods. “Finance is also one of the important foundation of this development,” Professor Yuan said.<\/p>\n <\/a> <\/a><\/p>\n Prof. Yuan T. Lee shared his experience in building an academic research unit<\/p>\n In the meeting, Professor Paul T.P. Ho – one of the participants taking the first photo of the black hole in the universe – also shared his experiences in building a solid research system. He said that regarding financial issue, tuition was not enough. There must be investment from businesses, governments, etc. \u201cWe need to cooperate with partners and get assistance from them. With research results that are useful to our society, we need to deliver it to companies and businesses to get profits\u201d. He also advised that the International University should invite more scientists and researchers to join the research.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n Dr. Tran Tien Khoa – Rector of International University – gave gift to Prof. Paul T.P. Ho to thank his support for the university.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n Prof. Yuan T. Lee also gave gift to the university. Dr. Tran Tien Khoa – Rector – received gift on behalf of the International University.<\/p>\n Dr. Tran Tien Khoa – Rector of International University – sincerely thanked the professors who spent their time visiting and sharing experiences. Dr. Tran Tien Khoa also sent an invitation to the professors, hoping that the professors could support the university in other academic activities in the future.<\/p>\n
